Clarifications and Methodology

The Central Bank of Brazil releases quarterly information on the institutions it authorizes to operate and which are in normal operation. Quarterly reports are available 60 days after the close of the March, June and September base dates, and 90 days after the close of the December base date.In case of replacement of a document after the deadline for preparation and publication, the new information will be considered in the reprocessing flow of the IF.Data that will occur in March of the following year. To access report information, it is necessary to define the desired classification criteria, according to the options offered on the home page.There is no information on Consortium Administrators.In order to facilitate the consultation, the reports are segregated into four information topics, namely:
 
 Accounting and Capital Information
 Credit Information
 Foreign Exchange Information
 Segmentation

1Individual Institutions: This filter comprises financial institutions and other authorized institutions to operate by the Central Bank of Brazil. Data are presented separately by legal entity (CNPJ), at the unconsolidated level. In this case, equity interests in Brazil and/or abroad and foreign branches are recognized as investments (equity method).

2Financial Conglomerates and Independent Institutions: This filter comprises financial conglomerates and individual institutions that are not part of financial conglomerates (independent institutions). A financial conglomerate is defined as a group of financial entities located in the country or abroad linked by a majority equity interest, either directly or not, by effective operational control or by partner rights that assure a predominance in corporate decisions. Financial institutions and other authorized institutions to operate by the Central Bank of Brazil that are part of a financial conglomerate are presented in a consolidated basis, as if they represent a single entity. Since 2018, data from independent institutions consider the entity’s operations in the country and its branches abroad.

3Prudential Conglomerates and Independent Institutions: This filter comprises prudential conglomerates and individual institutions that are not part of prudential conglomerates (independent institutions). Besides the institutions belonging to the financial conglomerate, prudential conglomerates include: (i) consortium administrators, (ii) payment institutions, (iii) companies that perform acquisition of credit operations, including real estate or credit rights, (iv) other legal entities domiciled in the country that have as an exclusive objective an equity interest in the aforementioned entities, (v) investment funds in which the entities that compose a prudential conglomerate take or retain substantial risks and benefits.

4Institutions with Foreign Exchange Operations: This filter comprises financial conglomerates and individual institutions that are not part of financial conglomerates, that operate in the foreign exchange market.
